Terzo

Review of Terzo

In the Marina, is a wonderful hidden gem of a restaurant. A bit off the bustling union street is Terzo, serving fresh organic locally grown Pan-Mediterranean small plates with a menu that changes daily.

As their website explains "Terzo, “third” in Italian, derives its name from the concept of community spaces where people gather away from home or work...Spices and flavors of the coastal regions of Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Italy, France and the Middle East weave seamlessly with the best of Northern California seasonal ingredients to create unique dishes that both comfort and excite."

The ambiance of this place is modern with sleek tables, hanging lights and nice open spacing. I went on a Wednesday and they served the following dishes

Hummus - with House Made Pita & Za’atar. The pita bread is soft and well seasoned and some of the most delicious bread I have had. The waiter was kind enough to even get us a few extra pieces to finish of the left over hummus.

The Free Range Chicken Spiedini -with Bread, Cilantro, Chile & Onions was my favorite dish of the night. Tender pieces of succulent chicken with a nice accompient of seasonings and spices.

Potato Gnocchi with pesto genovese & pecorino was authentic and quite delicious

The ham Calzone was pretty good. Although it was bit cold inside and the sauce made it a bit soggier than I would have liked
Braised Moroccan Style Chicken-with Basmati Rice, Yogurt, Sultanas, Pistachios & Herbs. Another winner at our table with a great combination of ingredients
The hand cut noodles was another solid dish, although adding some spice would have been nice

To top a wonderful night we ended with a delicious array of ice creams, Vanilla, Mint, Raspberry and Burnt Caramel.
With half priced bottles for every 2 dishes per person on weekdays, an extremely friendly and accommodating staff this is a great spot to come again and again to find a new set of delicious small plates waiting.
